Executive Coaching

Research has shown informal "active workplace learning" is a significant learning method for senior executives. It is very applicable to those executives who are looking for something beyond the formal learning techniques and workshops.

Yet the higher education institutions remain focussed on formal learning techniques to deliver their courses.

"Executive Coaching" is now the accepted informal managerial method of learning through a combination of experience and observation blended with some practical theory. It is a highly interactive and dynamic process.

William Jennings Bryan

Expectations

Clear personal goals for the programme are established at the start in the form of a coaching agreement. The goals must be realistic and achievable yet stretch the participant. The participant must be willing to try new methods and to take leaps of faith. Executive Coaching offers a supportive environment to evaluate both successes and failures.

The expectations of both parties must be clearly understood. Trust and confidentiality are paramount.

Care is taken to ensure the above goals align with those of the business. Thus the development of the participant will directly impact on the business' success.

Executive coaching enables the participant to step back and clearly see their situation within the business. New insights will raise the participant's awareness and standards. This will have benefits far beyond the work environment. The participant will have heightened ability, self-motivation and confidence. They will automatically aim higher and as such bring others around them upward and motivate them.

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude."

Thomas Jefferson

Outcomes

The outcomes for participants are:

  • Fully realising their value and priorities;
  • Increased personal performance through greater self-confidence and discovery of hidden talents and creativity;

  • Set goals and develop working action plans to bring about their attainment;

  • Move the executive beyond their current levels when they have plateaued;

  • Improve their leadership qualities and effectiveness; and

  • Champion others to achieve the goals of the business.

The programme is of a finite duration. It will enable awareness, learning and action to follow within the framework of the organisation.
